This is a family tree of the Bright and Coffin families from Devon.  The most famous member of the family is Major-General Richard Bright who commanded the Royal Marines during the Napoleonic war.  His son, John Henry Bright, also in the Marines, married Jean Hewish Coffin, daughter of James Coffin, longtime Rector of Linkinhorne Cornwall and close friend of John Newton ("Amazing Grace").  Their descendents now live all over the world, including Australia, South Africa, the US and Canada as well as still in Devon and other parts of the UK.  They are all invited to contact me and contribute new information or correct mine!
